Cold Stone

I GOT A JOB!
Cold Stone Creamery hired me last Saturday during Ladies Retreat. :) I'm so excited. My first day of work is today. In fact, I've already been there; only to discover once I arrived that they were asking me to come in at 5pm, not 10am for opening... Urg. Which means I miss the Thursday night Bible study at the Hewlett's house. I'm pretty bummed out about that...

But hey.

Money is money!
Is money.

Summertime

Good morning!

Yes, it's really good, even if it IS zero degrees outside. Ugh! :)

I'm drinking coffee and awaiting the arrival of my student in a few minutes. Yesterday, I completed the FAFSA form and sent it in. I should get an email in 3 or 4 business days. I so hope I get a grant; I need one. I also need a job, still. Jess and I are thinking about singing at a restaurant for a commission, till we have enough money to pay off everything. It'd be fun, and we'd get money at the same time! What more do we need? Haha. Anyway, I'll have to ask her about that. We could sing "Pie Jesu" since we both know it, and we could sing "Summertime." I want to work out an arrangement of "What a Wonderful World", Louis Armstrong styleish.

Summer time...
And the livin' is easy.
Fish are jumpin'...
and the cotton is high.
Oh, your daddy's rich,
and your momma's good lookin'...
So hush little baby, don't you cry.

One of these mornin's...
You're gonna rise up singin'.
Then you'll spread yo' wings...
and you'll take to th' sky.
But till that mornin',
there's a-nothin' can harm you
with daddy and mommy
standin' by.

Sinfonia, whoo!

This morning, I sat down and watched Tom & Jerry with my cup of coffee and a blanket and I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time. It was a tribute to Mooky and Erinn; we used to watch it all the time. :) We used to get up realllllly early and watch cartoons and other shows that only came on in the EARLY morning, like, 5am. :) I loved doing that, so I thought I'd relive it a little, sadly, sans Mooky and Erinn and it was actually about 9am.

I'm at Sinfonia right now, watching as they play through the pieces. There're quite a few rough places, but honestly, I think they're doing better than we did at this point. They're playing Divertimento Number II, and I LOVE that piece. They've only been playing for about 5 weeks now. Twice weekly. And it's almost over today. It's 5:29pm and it ends at 6pm. From here, Dave will pick me up and take me to the church building for the weekly Bible study. :) I love them. They make me happy. (Yay!)

One of the bassists just looked up and said, "Well, I almost played that in a lower octave, but my brain got mad at me." (Nolan) Silly.

I NEED A JOB. Badly.
Tonight, I have to finish labeling every envelope, then learn how to use Mail Merge, so I don't have to individually insert every name on every letter.

Blabberings from Allie...

Yesterday the high was 3 degrees.

But I just wore a blanket over me during my walk and tada! Not a problem. :D As long as the cold can't surround you, you're okay. The lake is cleared for ice skating, so I may do that at some point. Turns out, every Friday night at UAA, in the gym, they have open skate! Also, Brenden downloaded the schedule for open swim since I didn't have internet access at that point in time and told me what days and times there was open swimming in the same building. :) I'm going to try to go Saturday, since I can take the bus back, whereas, if I went in the evening, it would be too late by the time I was finished (10 pm) to take the bus back and Annie would have to pick me up. Eh.
I got some more work done on my letters that need to be mailed out. Really, what I need now is for Randi to get me the rest of the envelopes (we're sharing) and I need to go buy stamps. :) I can do that because last Friday, I worked for 6 1/2 hours at Annie's work and got paid.
Funny memory I thought of last night:
NOTE: Timothy is my older brother, but he has down syndrome, so his mental level is probably that of a six year old or younger. :) He's highly functioning; can cook, clean, etc... but his speech is slightly hard to understand sometimes.
Timmy and I are standing in the kitchen, I'm eating and he's just finishing up. He says something, I come back with a slightly offensive response, and he goes, "You peesa wope!" (You piece of rope.)
I laughed and said, "Hey, two can play this game, hangar head!"
Total and complete BLANK look from Timmy, he stands up, opens the door to outside, plops his hat on his head, says, "That's it. YOU'RE FIRED." and storms out, slamming the door behind him.
KEEP PRAYING FOR TONY! Check out his blog for updates. www.tonycollinsstatus.blogspot.com
